Security Director on Demand

Security Director on Demand, which can also be referred to as a fractional security director, gives you ongoing access to an experienced security leader, without the salary and overhead of a full-time hire.

What You Get

  • Direct access. Call or text me when a question or concern comes up. I respond promptly, and response times are set in your contract.
  • A leader who knows your organization. I learn your people, your space, and your risks, so my advice fits how you operate.
  • Help when something happens. I advise you during an incident and help you decide what to do next.
  • Steady improvement. I review your procedures, plans, and vendor and security contracts, and I arrange security audits and training as you need them.

These are examples, not a fixed list. The scope and my availability are set in a written contract.

Security Director on Demand does not replace 9-1-1 or emergency services. In an emergency, call 9-1-1 first.

Who Needs Security Director on Demand

Businesses

Small and medium-sized organizations, including medical offices, law and financial offices, professional services, retail spaces, and restaurants and bars.

Schools and Children's Programs

Private schools, childcare facilities, camps, and children's activity venues.

Nonprofits and Houses of Worship

Nonprofits, houses of worship, and community organizations that want security leadership without the cost of a full-time security staff.

Families and Individuals

Provides support and security services to address threats, harassment and stalking, home security, travel security, and other security and safety matters of concern.

Independent Advice, with Nothing to Sell

I do not sell security guards, alarms, cameras, or any other products or equipment. I only provide my services, so my advice is never tied to something I am selling. My only interest is giving you the best advice and the best client service.

A Typical Month

  • A monthly meeting. I meet with you, virtually or face to face, to address your concerns and anything management wants to raise. I then present my plan for the month.
  • A plan for the month. It might include a drill, a training session, observation of your operations, or a test of your security procedures.
  • Advice and support all month. I am available all month for advice and support, including threat assessment, threat management, threat mitigation, investigations, and liaison with fire, EMS, police, and other law enforcement agencies. I am also available for immediate advice on threats, criminal acts, or other emergencies.
  • Proactive updates. I send security updates and bulletins, including local concerns for your area, such as Loudoun, Fairfax, and Prince William counties and the Shenandoah Valley. I identify relevant security information to share via open-source research, proprietary databases, law enforcement communications, and other sources.
  • Next steps. When a concern comes up, you and I decide together what is needed, such as a procedure update, new training, an internal investigation, or research. I schedule meetings and respond to requests as needed.

What Sets B Safe Advisor Group Apart

With more than 25 years of experience protecting people, organizations, and families in the United States and around the world, I am an expert in threat assessment, threat management, and threat response. I also plan for emergencies, advise travelers on destination-specific risks, and test how well your security procedures work. When something goes wrong in your business, your organization, or your family's life, such as financial fraud, theft, threats, inventory loss (shrink), an injury, or harassment, I investigate independently, so you have a sound basis for action.

I train the people you want protected, whether a staff or a household, in emergency medical response, de-escalation skills, and recognition of pre-assault indicators. For organizations, I also train on indicators of embezzlement and other high-risk behavior.

Common Situations

Security Director on Demand helps when:

  • An employee, customer, or former partner has made a threat, or their behavior worries you.
  • You suspect theft, fraud, embezzlement, or unexplained inventory loss.
  • You want to know whether your guard, alarm, or camera vendor is doing what its contract promises.
  • You are planning an event, a new location, or a change in operations and want the security reviewed first.
  • An incident happened, and you need to decide what to do next.
  • You or your staff are traveling to an unfamiliar area or abroad and want to know the risks first.
  • You want your staff trained to respond to medical emergencies, aggressive people, and Active Threat Response, commonly referred to as active shooter or armed intruder training.

For Families and Individuals

Families and individuals have different needs from organizations, and I tailor Security Director on Demand to them. Typical needs include threat assessment, threat management, and threat mitigation; help with harassment; physical security surveys of your home; travel security advice; and private investigations. Your initial consultation and any records or reports I prepare for you always remain confidential.

How Security Director on Demand Compares to Other Options

A Full-Time Security Director

Brings salary, benefits, and overhead. Most small and medium-sized organizations and families do not need that every day.

A Security Guard Company

Provides people to staff a post. Guards follow their post orders and do not have the flexibility to go beyond them. They do not assess your security or provide advice. I provide independent leadership and assessment, and I review whether your guard contractor is meeting its contract.

An Alarm, Camera, or Security System Vendor

Sells and installs equipment. I sell nothing, so my recommendations are not tied to a product.

A One-Time Project or Consultant

Delivers a report and ends. With Security Director on Demand, I stay to carry out the recommendations, test them, and respond when your situation changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this like hiring a security guard company?

No. I do not provide security guard services. I assess your security needs and the performance of your current security arrangements, and I provide independent audits and assessments. My reports show whether your current security arrangements are sufficient, whether each contractor or vendor is meeting its contract specifications, and whether any changes are recommended.

What is the cost and what do I receive?

The monthly fee depends on the scope of your contract. I will discuss pricing and service options during your initial consultation. As an example, a small single-location business would pay approximately $500 per month over the course of the year and would receive: a full review and updates to all emergency plans, monthly meetings and updates, monthly drills and/or training as needed, reviews of operations to ensure compliance with security plans, unlimited consultations on investigative matters, up to two initial threat assessments every month, and the ability to contact me on an as-needed basis during typical business hours.

The services listed above are just one example of what the Security Director on Demand contract covers. During our initial consultations, I can work to tailor the contract to your specific needs.

Do I have to sign a long contract?

Contracts run from six to 12 months. A 12-month contract has a lower monthly rate than a six-month contract, and paying upfront earns an additional discount. You can also pay monthly.

Can you work with our current vendors?

Yes. The work is collaborative, but my primary responsibility is to you and your leadership team, so one of my first objectives is to determine whether your current arrangements and contractors are effective. After I discuss the results with you and your leadership team, I am glad to work with your vendors to improve service, training, and coordination.
